For many people, music is “the language of the soul”. They think that the music can express things that words can’t. To make that possible is necessary an instrument that can represent the emotions exactly like the musician meant to, and that’s what people from 4Front Technologies had in mind while developing True Pianos.
As its name suggests, True Pianos intends to be a realistic virtual piano instrument that can make feel the player as he were playing a real wood piano.
The idea is make things easy to the musicians so they don’t have to think about the tool instead of “feeling” and playing the music. That’s why the application was designed using highly intuitive controls adjust the instruments’ behavior to respect the unique playing style of every player and the characteristics of MIDI keyboards.
Let’s take a look at a list of controls in basic mode:
INTERFACE USAGE
1. Piano Keys
- Click: quickly audit the sound of a module/preset.
- Shows the keys that are currently being played on the MIDI keyboard.
2. Module/Preset name
- Shows the currently active module and preset.
- Click: Select the desired module or preset by name.
3. Up/Down arrow
- Click: Selects the next/previous module or preset.
4. Advanced Interface
- Click: Switches to the advanced user interface.
5. Options
- Click: Displays the ‘options’ menu.
6. About
- Click: Displays the ‘about’ menu.
As useable for True Pianos, it’s optimized for real-time performance lowering the CPU usage as low as possible and splitting the process load symmetrically in dual-core CPU systems.
In contrast with other applications alike, True Pianos doesn’t try to replicate existing pianos. Instead of that it uses the latest technologies combined to create what people from 4Front call “great playable pianos”.
